We want you to meet Danielle Fetherson.

Danielle is Book Writing Coach at Danielle Fetherson, LLC. Danielle helps first-time nonfiction authors write life-changing books worth reading, even if they’re not perfect writers and have a busy schedule.

Danielle says: “Most aspiring authors get stuck before they start their book, so I use my 10 years of ghostwriting and book editing experience to guide authors from being a best kept secret staring at a blank page to being a favorite author who is in demand.

These authors are ministers, non-profit leaders, messengers and entrepreneurs.

My super power is getting books out of the author’s head and onto paper, but I also help my authors publish their books and create their overall marketing messaging strategy so their book has the best chance of being discovered by those who need it most.

When I’m not helping authors write amazing books worth reading, I’m striving to live a life worth writing about.

In 2013 I made the brilliant decision to marry my hilarious husband, and would easily be a favorite character in a book about my life. However, my quick witted 4 year old daughter or my cheerful dancing 11 month old son may outshine even him.

When we’re not playing, dancing, singing, reading or doing chores together, I’m brushing up on Spanish, getting lost in a new self-help topic or planning a quick trip somewhere for new scenery.”

Share a bit about your Boss Mom journey:

“When my pastor self-published the book we collaborated on, it took off. He received speaking invites from around the world, earned an honorary doctorate of theology (because of his works and his writing), spoke on tv and became well known. Not only that, but he proudly introduced me as his ghostwriter every chance he got.

I didn’t know what a ghostwriter was at the time, but demand grew for my work and I had to choose between the career that wouldn’t give me the life I wanted and the mysterious one that would allow me to be home with my children in their early years and show them a “career” path no one on either side of my family explored.

I spent nearly 5 years perfecting my work as a ghostwriter before I learned that I charged less than 10% of what my peers charged. Then I studied high-ticket sales for a year before I admitted I didn’t want services that prevented me from helping the kind of people I started my business for in the first place. This meant I spent years becoming an underpaid freelancer and adopted a business model I didn’t like.

Now Boss Mom and Nurture to Convert are showing me how to finally build a business I can be proud of around the book writing coaching and occasional co-writing services I’ve grown to love.”

What makes you excited about becoming a Boss Mom of the Week?

“I’ve been working with authors for nearly a decade, but like the stereotype of writers, I’ve spent most of that time alone.

Only recently have I found this incredibly supportive community of women who understand the challenges and triumphs of raising a family and a business.

I haven’t experienced a sisterhood this powerful since my undergraduate days at an all women’s college, so I hope anyone who sees this spotlight and is wondering if there’s any value in it for introverts, let me be the one to say there absolutely is!”

One piece of advice for moms who are starting a business

“You’re going to make mistakes in raising your business, raising your babies and caring for yourself. It will happen more than once too, but that’s okay as long as you’re willing to learn from them and get back up.

And don’t stress about hiding those mistakes, because when your babies see how you come back from those mistakes, you’ll give them one of the greatest gifts possible.”

I want to live in a world where…

Fewer people rely on tearing down others to build themselves up

This is what I know to be true…

The biggest difference between my biggest struggles and biggest triumphs is the absence of presence of healthy routines, supportive people and self-compassion.

One thing you can’t live without…

Nurture to Convert. No one asked me to say this, but it’s true. The content and community are my business equivalent of my family and journaling—I’m not me without them.

What is the big milestone that you are hitting that you are celebrating?

Now that I’m developing systems that make running my business easier, I have time to setup a monthly investment program where I use business profits to make life changing and poverty-fighting micro loans through Kiva and to start a scholarship fund that allows me to work with amazing authors who may not have the money yet to publish.
