Turning 40 is a huge milestone and a birthday that feels different from other ones. A pivotal birthday brings up so many feelings – fear, excitement, anticipation, joy, apprehension, and tons of questions about what getting older means to us.

The older we get, the more we see how much we’ve lived, and how much more we still have to experience if we choose to stay young at heart and young in mind.

How do we age gracefully, on our terms, and continue to strive towards being the best version of ourselves?

In this very special episode of the Boss Mom podcast, I share my thoughts and feelings about getting older, as I count down to my 40th birthday.

“If we stay young at heart and young of mind and try to continually be better, we won’t look at aging as something that’s happening to us, we’ll see it as something we’ve earned.”

-Dana Malstaff

Three Things You’ll Learn in This Episode

  • How to age on your terms
We can be anything we want to be, at any age, Look at what you want to accomplish, without wondering whether you should, whether you should have already done it, or if you’re too old to do it.
  • Why our age shouldn’t limit what we can accomplish
Aging doesn’t mean doing or trying less. We have the opportunity to become the best version of ourselves by staying in constant curiosity, and continually striving for new thoughts, ideas, and skills.
  • How to shift your mindset about getting older
Our age doesn’t have to be something that happens to us, or something bad. It’s something we should wear proudly because we’ve earned every wrinkle, line, experience, and every ounce of our wisdom.
