Tell us a little bit about your family and your Boss Mom journey.

My husband and I are college sweethearts who had high school crushes on each other. We have two beautiful children together: a son named Soren and a daughter named Hero.

When I delivered my daughter last year, I got laid off during my maternity leave (from my own parents). Heartbroken, I tried to regain my confidence and strength, so I spent the next year trying (and failing) to start a business.

It wasn’t until this past summer when I came across the Boss Mom podcast, then the Facebook group, that I finally gained more clarity in my mission and my passion. Since then, so many amazing things have happened and so many glorious “Ah-ha” moments in my family’s lives and in the life of my business. Now, I’m part of the Boss Mom Academy and I’m surrounded by even more love and support as I continue my entrepreneurial journey.

What are some of your favorite go to meals when time is tight and dinner MUST get on the table?

Crockpot meals are where it’s at in this busy house. I have one day a week where I prep everything with the help of my husband. So when time is tight or I know it’s going to be a busy day, I’m covered.
And I recently just started Samantha Rodgers meal plan which cuts that time in half. I don’t have to search for recipes anymore, and my grocery list is already finished for me. Talk about your win-win.

Where do you go for inspiration?

t depends, sometimes I find inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram, or Facebook. And other times, I turn to podcasts, especially if I need help on a specific topic.

What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc)?

For books, I’m reading “One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories” by B.J. Novak (one of the writers of The Office). It’s a hilarious book of short stories that always leave me giggling. And for Podcasts, oh where do I start? The first one is, of course, the Boss Mom Podcast but I also enjoy listening to The Get Paid Podcast, Smart Passive Income, Being Boss, and Online Marketing Made Easy.

What is one piece of business advice that you’d give to a mom just starting out?

Have a goal. Make a plan. I firmly believe in the quote “A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish”. It’s important to not only know where you want to be but also how to get there.

What are some of your favorite quotes or words to live by?

  • “Success if not final; failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
  • “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” – John Rockefeller
  • “There is no failing, only learning.” – Dana Malstaff

In one word, sum up your life as a Boss Mom. Humbling

What are three core values of your business and how do those values relate to your motherhood?

I believe in being honest, genuine, and strong. These are reflected in my mom life by teaching my children to be themselves and be a good person. But, I also hope they see me as a strong woman. I think this is important for my son and my daughter to witness because that means my daughter will grow up believing she’s strong and won’t let anything stand in her way for being a woman, and my son will grow up admiring and respecting women and will find a strong woman in life.
