Boss Mom Spotlight – Christa Bevan
We want you to meet Christa Bevan
Christa is the Founder of The Radical Mother Village
She is an “expert companion” to other Radical Mothers dedicated to consciously breaking cycles of generational trauma. She’s a certified TRE® (tension and trauma releasing exercises) provider and a stress-resilience coach. She is also the host of The Radical Mother Village Podcast. Christa works to educate, support, and inspire people who are ready for radical change in their lives using a combination of heart-centered intuitive practices and neuroscience-backed tools.
Share a bit about your Boss Mom journey:
I came to this work out of necessity. I needed trauma healing and stress resilience work in my own life. Once I found the tools and resources that finally really made a huge impact on my life, I couldn’t help but share them with others. I trained to become a certified TRE (tension and trauma releasing exercises) provider as well as a stress resilience coach so that I could help other mothers who were doing the work of raising babies while reparenting their own inner child at the same time.
The biggest complaint on my road to motherhood, knowing that I had been called to break the cycle of trauma in my family, was feeling painfully alone. I knew that I never wanted another mother to feel the same way I did, so I started looking for other “radical mothers” who were also going against the conventional mothering paradigm to prioritize their own inner healing work. What surprised me was that there are SO many of us out there – and most also feel that loneliness.
Now with my work, I get to bring all the parts of my life I love the most together: I’m able to run my own business and be my own boss, I get to be my son’s primary caregiver, and I get to help support other mamas doing this work alongside me. Being a Boss Mom means that I get to live my life from my values instead of my circumstances and model that possibility to others around me.
I truly believe that when mothers heal, the world heals and I continue to see evidence of that in my own life and the lives of my clients on a daily basis. Being witness to that transformation is such an honor and feels magical every time I get to be a part of it.
What makes you excited about becoming a Boss Mom of the Week?
I love the idea of getting connected with more mamas that need this work in their lives. So often those of us breaking cycles of trauma feel alone, but the truth is we’re not – there are LOTS of us doing this work together.
One piece of advice for moms who are starting a business
Give yourself grace. Babies are full-on work, business is full-on work. Trying to do both at the same time? SUPER FULL-ON. When we chase after our dreams, even when it’s hard – not only do our own lives become more fulfilling, but we show our kids what’s possible for them too.
Where do you go for inspiration?
The members of my Radical Mother Village community. These mamas never fail to amaze me with their wisdom, perseverance, and dedication to doing the work of showing up for themselves AND their kids, even when it’s HARD.
What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc)?
Some recent fave books include Mother Hunger by Kelly McDaniel, Call of the Wild by Kimberly Ann Johnson. Podcasts I love include Mother the Mother with McLean McGown, Mother Like a Boss with Kendra Hennessy, and Finding Your Village with Amanda Gorman.
I want to live in a world where…
mothers are supported unconditionally.
This is what I know to be true…
when mothers heal, the world heals.
One thing you can’t live without…
What is the big milestone that you are hitting that you are celebrating?
