Samantha is a biz coach & strategist for creative entrepreneurs who are tired of being one in a sea of many. Through her 1:1 coaching packages, Facebook group and newly launched course she helps her clients to build a business and brand that stands out and provides a one of kind customer service that attracts their dream clients so they can stop searching and start doing. Great accountability sprinkled with pixie dust”, “[the] push outside my comfort zone” and “an incredible coach and friend.” When she’s not working you can find her hanging out with her kids, dog and husband (most likely on a soccer field or at the park).
Tell us a little bit about your family and your Boss Mom journey.
I started this journey by chance. It began with me doing favors for friends and family. Creating websites, invitations and other graphic and web projects. They would tell their friends who would tell their friends and so on. Before I knew it, I had a thriving small business. In 2013 my business had grown enough that I was able to quit my day job, stay home with my kiddo and build my business full time.
My business continued to grow and then in early 2014 it hit a wall. I gave birth to my son during one of my busiest months and three weeks later my husband had an emergency surgery. That surgery led to another surgery a few months later and then a stay in ICU while I packed and moved our family out of our condo that had just sold. With a 4.5 year old and 4 month old, I moved us out of our home and into my moms. Over the next few months my husband healed and we were able to move into our new home. By this time ithas been just over 6 months with me away from my business and it showed. It was hard to get back into it. I struggled for the last few months of 2014.
Last year, I took a step back and reflected on everything and tried to find a way back into my business. I realized that while I enjoyed doing graphic and web design, it wasn’t my true passion or love. I wanted to help people and I wanted to connect with them. I researched, followed others and dove head first into learning how I could build a business around my true passion. I found the world of coaching and I fell in love. Since then I’ve built a business focused on coaching, strategy and design. I’ve been blessed to work with amazing clients and help them build businesses and brands that they love, that stand out and attract their dream clients.
What are some of your favorite go to meals when time is tight and dinner MUST get on the table?
Breakfast, usually breakfast burritos. That’s my favorite emergency (aka, I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer) dinners. The kids love it and I add in a few secret veggies and fruit on the side to complete the meal. It’s quick, easy and everyone’s happy.
What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc)?
Read? I have a list of want to read books and really need to get an audible account to help with that. I love listening to podcasts. On my way home from walking my daughter to school, I plug in my headset and turn on Boss-Mom, All Up in Your Lady Business, Being Boss or She Percolates. These amazing podcasts have opened my eyes and given me some amazing new perspectives to being a Boss Mom.
What is one piece of business advice that you’d give to a mom just starting out?
Be yourself & trust your instincts. Don’t worry about what others are doing, trust yourself. It’s a lot like being a mom. You get advice from everyone but you need to sort through it, find what works for you and go with your gut. You’ve got this. 🙂
