Boss Mom Spotlight – Jayne Havens
We want you to meet Jayne Havens is the owner and founder of Snooze Fest and the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management.
As a new parent, overwhelmed by exhaustion, Jayne found herself reading everything she could find in order to get her own son to sleep through the night. She applied what she learned to both of her children, implementing good sleep habits very early on.
Friends quickly took notice of the fact that Jayne’s children were both fabulous sleepers, and they began coming to her for help with their own kids’ sleep challenges.
Jayne has quickly established herself as a leader in the industry, building a strong reputation for taking good care of her clients and always providing top notch service along with her expertise. She describes her approach as being very “client led”, meaning she works with families using methods that feel comfortable for them. There is no one size fits all approach to teaching a child to fall asleep and back to sleep independently. In addition to supporting families through the sleep training process, Jayne also founded the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. Through CPSM, Jayne trains, mentors and certifies others to do this incredibly rewarding work. If there is one thing she loves more than teaching babies to sleep through the night, it’s supporting other women through the process of launching and growing their own sleep consulting businesses!
Jayne’s Boss Mom journey:
When my first child was born 8 years ago, he was a really good sleeper. I thought, this is just too easy! Well, right when he turned four months, he hit that classic four month sleep regression and went from sleeping through the night to waking every hour needing his pacifier replaced. I was exhausted and losing my mind. I took to the Internet and the book stores and read everything I could get my hands on. It quickly became clear why he was waking so often, and with a little work, and a glass of wine for myself, I got him sleeping through the night again. All of my friends were jealous of my 11 hour sleeper, so I started helping them and then before I knew it, I was getting text messages from their friends needing help with getting their children to sleep. I found myself giving advice and support to anyone that reached out seeking help. This went on for about six years before I decided to turn this hobby into a business. I enrolled in an online sleep consultant certification course, and the rest was history. What was intended to be a little side hustle to keep my brain busy while caring for my two young children, quickly morphed into a very busy and profitable business. During this time I was so immersed in all things entrepreneurship, that I found myself coaching other sleep consultants just like I used to coach friends through sleep training. Sleep consultants would reach out to me for advice when they weren’t confident about how to solve a problem for their clients. Some lacked confidence in their ability to properly support families, and others lacked the confidence needed to build an audience and find clients. It became abundantly clear that while there were several options for sleep consultant certification courses, none were providing the level of mentorship and support that the students were craving. So I set out to do it better! In the first year, the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management enrolled 95 ladies into the program, and this is only the beginning of my story!
What makes you excited about becoming a Boss Mom of the Week?
I absolutely love the Boss Mom community. When I was first starting my sleep consulting business, I stumbled upon the Boss Mom Facebook group and it instantly became my resource for all things business. I connected with the person that would end up helping me with my website. I learned about freebies, funnels, and how to market myself through emails. Boss Moms is the place where I learned that I too could create my own digital course, and I connected with the team that would help me turn that idea and dream into a reality. My sleep consultant certification program would likely not exist today if it was not for the Boss Moms community, and for that I’m incredibly grateful.
One piece of advice for moms who are starting a business
My biggest piece of advice is to show up in your business every single day. If you give your business the attention it deserves, the hard work will pay off. Our children see this work ethic in us and it sets a good example for our children. It shows them that nothing comes easy, and the effort is worthwhile. I know my children are incredibly proud of me and they love hearing about everything I have going on “at work”. Luckily for me, I still get to be there to pick them up from school, take them out for ice cream before we eat dinner, and tuck them in for bed at night.
Where do you go for inspiration?
So many places! I hang out a lot in Facebook groups, and on Instagram. I also spend a lot of time networking with likeminded entrepreneurs, as they always inspire me to think bigger and to push myself outside of my comfort zone. Watching people that are a few steps ahead of me is incredibly inspiring.
What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc)?
Right now I’m loving the podcast, “Systems Saved Me” and I also love the Morning Brew’s podcast “Business Casual”. When I’m not consuming to learn, I love to mindlessly scroll through Instagram Reels and have a good laugh.
I want to live in a world where…
I’d love to live in a world where women all believed in their own ability to achieve success.
This is what I know to be true…
Hard work pays off!
One thing you can’t live without…
My AirPods! Seriously I don’t know how I functioned without them.
What is the big milestone that you are hitting that you are celebrating?
I’m about to enroll my 100th student into my sleep consultant certification course. That is right around the corner and it will be a very exciting moment for me.
