Did you know that music is its own language? We can use music to speak to our babies and engage with our children. And during this time when we are all spending more time at home with our families, it’s a great time to think about how music can play a part in the stories we tell and the memories we make.

In this episode, music therapist, award-winning musician, and founder of Baby In Tune, Vered Benhorin shares how to connect with our children in new ways, and how your voice is music to your children’s ears (even if you think you can’t sing).

Creating songs with your children can help you connect and make amazing memories. -Vered Benhorin

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

  1. Take a moment to assess
With the world on pause, we finally have a moment to think deeply about who we are. Take advantage of the lull we’re going through to assess where we are, and where we want to be.
  2. Bond through music
Music is a great way to form bonds with the people closest to us, so take a moment each day to improvise vocally. Sing a little song about our current reality; our kids will remember this for years and may even pass it on to their own children.
  3. Parenting doesn’t have to feel like a job.
Imagine having a special game you play together that brings on those first giggles you will never forget. It makes your heart jump out of your body. Imagine having a conversation with your baby that makes you feel like you speak your baby’s language perfectly. You gaze into each other’s eyes and understand each other.
