Nicole is our Boss Mom this week! She adopted a baby a year ago and around the same time her business was growing. While it isn’t always easy, she’s balancing these two very important adventures together. There are times that it’s hard to balance it all, but she loves this journey she’s on.

Nicole Ketchum 2
Nicole designs modern, acrylic decor that is chic and colorful. It began when looking everywhere for a fun take on a chandelier — without the hassle of lighting and cost. Along with her designer husband, they set about creating her company Chandelier By NK. For three years, they worked on prototypes designs and tried to start a family. Having had no success with surgeries and fertility treatments for seven years, they turned to adoption.

In 2013, after inheriting a small sum of money from a relative, Nicole ordered acrylic prototypes and launched her website. As she was receiving positive press and accolades on her designs, the adoption process was grueling and time consuming. By late 2014, both Nicole and her husband decided to move on with their lives. One month later they got the call to adopt a baby girl in 5 weeks. Nicole and her husband now juggle being new parents, a start-up and a new life. While being a Boss Mom and home with their one year old has caused Nicole to slow down — the depth of life and career has gotten richer, more laser-focused and meaningful.

We love Nichole’s heart for design, passion for motherhood, and pursuit of her goals! All of which make her an awesome recipient of Boss Mom of the Week!
