How to Push Forward When the World is on Pause w/Emily D. Baker

The COVID-19 crisis has put a pause on all aspects of our lives; our children’s school schedules and daily routines, our habits and how we operate from day-to-day, and of course, our businesses.

The pause doesn’t mean we have to stop completely. We can keep moving forward if we learn how to navigate our new reality. If we focus our energies correctly, this can be a great launching pad for business growth.

Where should we be focusing our energies right now? How can we regain some control over our lives during the pandemic? On this episode, lawyer for online businesses and host of the Get Legit Law & Sh!t podcast, Emily D. Baker, shares how to push forward while the world is on pause.

Now’s a great time to push pause and look at the foundation of your business. If you wanted to change systems or switch email providers, now’s the perfect opportunity. -Emily D. Baker

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

  1. Focus on the foundation
So often, we neglect the foundational work of our businesses because it doesn’t feel fun. Now that we have more time on our hands, we can channel our energy into vital foundational elements like accounting and legal paperwork.
  2. Keep making money
A lot of business owners feel uncomfortable about continuing to operate during the crisis, but we have to give ourselves permission to make money. While we definitely have to evaluate our strategies and acknowledge what’s going on, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t adapt to the times and keep making a profit.
  3. Control what can be controlled
We have very little control over any form of natural disaster or pandemic, so instead of trying to control something out of our hands, we should be focusing our attention on the small things we do have power over, like our daily schedules. Control what can be controlled, and release the rest of it.
