Here is a little bit about Kelley Thompson in her own words. I am currently certified as a sleep consultant for babies and young children, ages newborn through five years old. Serenity Sleepers is committed to helping families develop peaceful sleepers using only the safest, healthiest and most gentle approaches. Over the years I have always had a passion and desire for working with babies and children. I obtained a bachelor and master’s degree in elementary and middle school education, and had the pleasure of working with children for many years. Through the years I have developed a strong passion for educating myself kelley-hallums-thompson-headshotand others on creating healthy and safe sleep environments for babies and children. Every child and family has a unique and different situation, and everyone should be treated with great care. One of my top priorities is devoting my time and efforts to make sure I create the right individualized sleep plan to meet each family’s needs. Educating parents and families on age appropriate sleep techniques and methods is extremely important. Teaching others how to implement the right sleeping strategies to meet their individual needs is one of my top goals. Being able to give parents and care takers the ability to help their little ones develop healthy, strong and peaceful sleeping habits is one of my main goals. Please feel free to visit my website to learn more about how I can help you and your family. I send out weekly newsletters, and post a weekly blog all topics related to your little ones.

Tell us a little bit about your family and your Boss Mom journey.

I have been married to my amazing husband for 8 years this coming October and we have two healthy and beautiful children, Easten- age 5, and Ellis Jane- age 17 months. I was a former elementary 5th grade teacher and working with children and families has always been one of my strongest passions. When my son was born I decided to take off work and be a stay at home mom to enjoy those early milestones. Over the years, I have become an advocate of healthy sleeping environments and educating others on the importance of sleep education. Having two small children also teaches you the importunate of sleep and how to implement proper and healthy techniques and methods. Along the way, I pursued a certification in becoming a sleep consultant for babies and young children. I wanted to take my knowledge and experience and help families develop peaceful and healthy sleepers. Being a full time mom, business owner and meeting everyone’s needs can be challenging at times, yet extremely rewarding. I count my blessings that God has choose this path for me and I continue to work harder each day to be the best wife, mother and Boss Mom I can be, to show my children that hard work and dedication pays off.

What are some of your favorite go to meals when time is tight and dinner MUST get on the table?

Crockpot meals are my favorite go to and healthy options. I am an avid runner and staying healthy and feeding my family nutritious meals is always a top priority, yet many nights we are running low on time. I am a Pinterest enthusiast for the easy and delicious crockpot meals. Another family favorite meal we call it “Ms. Lanning’s Chicken” Growing up a family friend passed this recipe off to my mom. Take chicken breast roll them in olive oil, then roll them in breadcrumbs place in a pan and bake at 375* for 35 minutes. We sprinkle a little mozzarella cheese on top and bam a 5-minute prep meal in the oven and out on the table.

Where do you go for inspiration?

First, I turn to God for inspiration an encouragement, I know he is the one that has guided me on this amazing journey and even through times of uncertainty, I know he will push me through. Next, I always go for a great run or a good fitness class, this always gives me rejuvenation and lets my mind break free, especially on those days you are having a really tough boss mom kind of day. Finally, I turn to one of my favorite authors, Pete Wilson, and one of his books called Empty Promises. No matter what situation I am facing, I know I am able to find inspiration and motivation with a sense of peace and reassurance from this encouraging read.

What are some of your favorite quotes or words to live by?

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

2 Corinthians 12:9 When he recalled a word of the Lord in his own time of fear and anxiety: “But God said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’.

In one word, sum up your life as a Boss Mom. Devoted

What are three core values of your business and how do those values relate to your motherhood?

Dependability, Goal-Oriented, Driven. My family knows I am always dependable as I will go above and beyond to keep my word and promises. I set daily goals in my business just as I do with my family. I want my children to know if you want something in life you push harder then you ever imagined and exceed your own expectations. Yes, you will fall short and even fail many times, but you learn from those situations and work harder the next time. I hope my children see the passion and desire I have had along the way and so much of it was for our family. From obtaining my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, to a master’s degree in middle school education and on to a certified sleep consultant, I owe so much to my family and friends. In my 20’s I was unsure why God had place certain paths in my life, but I quickly saw he had a plan and if I trusted in him and followed he would point me in the right direction. He reminds me daily that I am driven and work hard for my family, myself and continuing to help others throughout this journey.
