We want you to meet Brittany May

Brittany is a digital strategist and business coach for women entrepreneurs focused on helping them create smarter systems to scale simply. After running her first seven figure business (the wrong way! ) and having it take over her life, she is now passionate about helping moms structure their businesses in a way that are not only profitable but in a way that works FOR them and their families!

Share a bit about your Boss Mom journey:

I was always an entrepreneur- being raised by one I never saw any other path for myself! Straight out of university I founded my first LLC and went from sewing on a sewing machine I was gifted for my 7th birthday to running my own seven-figure retail business with six locations. But it wasn’t until I had children that I ever valued working smarter! Back then to me, I thought working harder meant putting in more hours, more time, more energy and that’s exactly what I did. I worked around the clock, but I loved what I did; so it wasn’t until my first born that my priorities shifted. That’s when I knew that lifestyle would no longer work for me or now my family. I wanted to be there with my kids and not miss those milestones and memories, I wanted my nights and weekends and holidays back! That’s truly when everything changed for me I started embracing my knack for streamlining and systems and leveraging it to create more time for myself and freedom from my schedule and business. I transitioned my brick-and-mortar business model to solely online and I created a business that worked for me and not the other way around! I finally created a business I was passionate about and loved, but one that didn’t eat up all my time in order for it to keep on running and brining in revenue! Fast forward several years and I am now a military spouse, mother of two little girls (five and under!) living abroad in Germany and a two-time business owner. Now instead of priding myself on how many hours of work I can cram into one day, I revel in how efficient I can make my systems so that I can work even less while scaling! And my biggest passion was born in connecting and helping other mamas learn how to do it for their family and business too!

One piece of advice for moms who are starting a business

That there is only one you and you can’t do it all (at least not without making yourself go crazy!) Pick your top 3 tasks for each day- business, self care or family- whatever is the top priority for the day and focus on those and forget the rest! You’ll feel great knowing you got the most important things done and you can shed the guilt of the endless list that was never going to get done anyway!

Where do you go for inspiration?

I love finding inspiration in communities just like this one, full of amazing women doing incredible things and lifting each other up in the process! Other times I love turning it all ‘off’ and just going and experiencing something new with my family and that often leads to inspiration when I least expect it!

I want to live in a world where… women don’t feel like they have to give up on their dreams in order to be a great Mom.

This is what I know to be true… when we start leveraging our knowledge instead of our time we open ourselves up to a world of new opportunities and freedom.
