Share a bit about your Boss Mom journey:
I was feeling a strong pull for more…like there was something else I needed to be doing. I knew that I wanted to show my kids that they can DECIDE to put their gifts to work and step out of their comfort zone in the process. I knew if I wanted that for them, that I had to show them…. I had to do it myself. I have had a career in corporate for 15 years where I am the only woman in the conference room. I Know what it’s like to want to be taken seriously, to learn how to establish credibility and to own your voice. I have put in the work to develop myself as a leader, and I want to help other women do the same. ..Wherever they may be in their lives/careers/businesses.
What makes you excited about becoming a Boss Mom of the Week?
Being a part of a community of women who are pursuing their version of success and supporting each other along the way lights me up. I love that this community believes that being a mom is so much of our identity…but not all of it. It’s a gift to our kids to show them who we are.
One piece of advice for moms who are starting a business
Give yourself grace and remember that you aren’t in a race (comparison can eat us alive). And I think most importantly, be YOU. Bring more of you and your gifts in to your business and your work. That is your superpower. That is how you will build a legacy and show those babies who you really are.
Where do you go for inspiration?
Walks, quiet time in the mornings (even 10 minutes) before the rest of the house gets up and connecting with friends and peers.
What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc)?
I’m OBSESSED with podcasts, and am currently reading ‘Believe it’, by Jamie Kern Lima (so good!) and ‘The Infinite Game’, by Simon Sinek.
I want to live in a world where…
We all have the courage and confidence to use our voices and our gifts to impact others and create the legacy we dream of and want to instill in our kids.
This is what I know to be true…
That we all have been given gifts, and it is up to us to put them to work.
One thing you can’t live without…
My comfy clothes!
What is the big milestone that you are hitting that you are celebrating?
ONE year of launching the podcast!
