Boss Mom of the Week: Kristine Bennett
My name is Kristine Bennett. I am a mom of two young children trying to balance having a business while transitioning to a new one. I want to help other moms like myself who want to work from home and achieve success on their own terms. That is why I created a blog called Movin Moms to reflect how moms are always on the go but to make it lead to something meaningful in their work and family life.
Tell us about your family and your Boss Mom journey.
I have two kids(a 17 month old daughter and 3 year old son). My husband has been great and though having a spouse who is a quadriplegic can be challenging at times, it has added to my drive to push on. Also, realizing my pet business was taking time away from enjoying my children, I decided before my daughter was born to look at other options to make income and work at home for my kids. I hope since I launched my blog recently to make that happen soon.
What are some of your favorite go to meals when time is tight and dinner MUST get on the table?
Grilled cheese, veggie quesadilla, frozen veggies, and trying to make mashed potatoes or rice can help me as well. Last resort is peanut butter and jelly if these options are not working for my son.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I like to just observe my environment (whether online or in my city). You can learn so much from watching. The interactions of people living support one another gives me inspiration to do good and keep pushing on. Hopefully, I will meet more moms like myself.
What are you currently reading or listening to (podcasts, books, blogs etc.?)
I love the Boss Mom podcast, Smart Passive Income, Social Media Marketer, and reading how to blog books.
What is one piece of business advice that you’d give to a mom just starting out?
Take action and make your goals simple so you can achieve them. Do not get overwhelmed with knowledge and know the journey is exciting but has its up and down moments.
What are some of your favorite quotes or words to live by?
Things are always temporary if you want them to be, Never give up, Never settle, always evaluate where you are going in life so you can go after your happiness.
In one word, sum up your life as a Boss Mom.
Hustle
What are three core values of your business and how do those values relate to your motherhood?
I accept people for who they are and their needs, and that is how I am trying to shape my children. Quality over quantity.
