Boss Mom of the Week: Dawn Marrs
Dawn is a blogger and hardcore marketing nerd, whose business is helping entrepreneurs leverage technology to grow a thriving, scalable business with maximum time-freedom. When she’s not geeking out over technology, you’ll find her at happy hour, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a family movie night. Her podcast, the Social Media Marketing Happy Hour has been featured as the #1 podcast for entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur.com. Dawn lives in Carlsbad, California with her husband Marco and three kids (8, 10, 12).
Dawn is our Boss Mom of the Week this week because she is just downright one amazing woman. She moved from Canada to San Diego 6 years ago to marry the love of her life and gained 3 amazing children through the marriage. She already had a business, but in many ways had to start over and learn to be a mom and an entrepreneur all at the same time and it totally rockin’ both.
We asked Dawn Marrs a few questions that seem to be on the minds of Boss Moms everywhere. Enjoy!
What is your favorite go-to meal?
Turkey Tostadas because it’s easy and fast. It’s my kids favorite meal.

What is something you love to do that’s just for you?
Take long walks with my dog Xena the Warrior Princess, and listen to books on Audible as soon as everyone leaves for work and school.
Dawn is a master at automating her business and here are a few of her favorite tips.
Building your email list should be a top priority in 2016… the easiest way to start is to identify places where you already have traffic (ie your most popular blog posts) and create ultra-targeted lead magnets to go with them.
Make sure you have at least 6 emails in your follow up series and focus on letting your subscribers get to know you… tell relevant, helpful stories, share case studies and testimonials, let them know you’re in their corner and let your personality shine through in every email you write.
Don’t be afraid to sell in your emails… as long as you’re truly providing a solution to your subscriber’s problem you should always make an offer. “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.”
Last but not least, never do repetitive tasks that can be handled by technology. Everything – from credit card decline reminders, to appointment scheduling, to course delivery – can be systemized and totally hands off.
Always look for ways to let your technology do the work for you – do the work to set it up once, and you’ll be amazed at how much of your time you’ll get back!
