Pitching Yourself is an Act of Giving, Not Selfishness w/Amelia Roberts
Many women are hesitant to pitch themselves to be on podcasts because they fear they may not be welcomed, or that they don’t have the right stories to share, and this is especially true for women of color.
Let’s face it, it’s difficult to compliment ourselves, so how can we overcome that? And for those of us who do have a platform, how can we encourage more women to feel more comfortable with pitching us?
On this episode, Visibility Strategist and Relationship Facilitator, Amelia Roberts shares why it’s so important for everyone to share the information within themselves, and how to pitch our stories.
As humans we were designed in an amazingly powerful way. There are gifts within us, put there to help people. We have to share our stories. -Amelia Roberts
3 Things We Learned From This Episode
- Do the mindset work
So often, we hold back from sharing our ideas because we aren’t sure they’re enough. A great way to combat this is by hiring a coach, someone who can help us sort through good ideas and those that need tweaking, and who can hold us accountable to taking action. - Do the research
To be featured on a podcast, do some research on the audience. Understand what they’re struggling with, and pitch with that in mind. If we know we have a solution to a common problem, we’re the perfect candidate to share our stories. - Create an inclusive environment
For those of us who do have a platform to share stories, it’s important to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable pitching to us. Do some research to find out how to serve those who aren’t pitching to us.
